Did you know that the pomegranate is one of the seven fruits listed in the Old Testament as a symbol of fertility?
Well, I’m not sure about fertility but if that might mean that the pomegranate will produce many health benefits, I’m totally on board!
Here are just a few of those benefits:
- These curious fruit have very high levels of antioxidants which make it an overall health powerhouse on that account alone. That brings protection against cancer. It seems that this is especially true of prostate cancer.
- Studies have shown that pomegranate juice counters atherosclerosis, or hardening of the arteries. In one study, people with heart disease who drank pomegranate juice had remarkable improvements in their blood flow to the heart.
- Arthritis sufferers are significantly helped by pomegranate fruit extract.
- And, here is information on a study that shows the power of pomegranate juice to slow down brain degeneration and combat Alzheimer’s disease.
I can’t think of a reason to not include this incredible fruit in a healthy diet!
So, how do you cook with these wonderful fruit? Glad you asked!
