surround yourselfUse this post to figure out if having a fitness partner would  be helpful for you.  You’ll get some info on how to find the “right” partner.  You can use the FITNESS PARTNER QUESTIONNAIRE post in your partner search process.  Then, there is some advice on how to get off to a good start with you new fitness partner.  Let me know how it goes!

+ benefits of having a fitness partner:

  • accountability
  • motivation
  • opportunity to get fit while also socializing
  • oppurtunity to get fit while also learning new things
  • more scheduling flexibility than going to classes
  • less intimidating that joining a gym or taking a class
  • safer since someone is there if there is ever a problem

+ need to be matched with the “right” partner who

  •  shares your fitness goals
  • wants to engage in the same level of fitness activities
  • has things in common with you (in general)

+ process of getting started with your fitness partner determine:

  •  what kind of activity you both would like to do
  • how often you want to do your fitness activity
  • schedule your time together
  • set some ground rules
    • for cancellations (24 hours in advance?)
    • how will you decide which activities to do (take turns?)
    • how often will you mix up your activities so they stay interesting
    • determine how and what each can teach the other
